We've created this introductory design guide to outline the approach, tools and techniques needed to design a low traffic neighbourhood (LTN).
We hope it can be a useful reference for engineers, urban designers, planners, and anyone else interested in creating liveable cities and towns.
While the principles outlined should apply to most schemes, the detail will always be context-specific.
A great design is not enough to guarantee a successful low traffic neighbourhood, which will require complementary monitoring, community engagement and behaviour change programmes.
